The Douglas Archives

A collection of historical and genalogical records

1)  From the above list, I am seeking information on: "Campbell Douglas, born Kirkcudbrightshire during 1782.  Grocer in Charleston, North Carolina.  Nat.19 October, 1813, Charleston, South Carolina".  Any clue would be welcome.

2)  From the same list, I have the full family of: "James Kennedy Douglas, born in Scotland.  Nat.14 May,1804, Charleston, South Carolina".  His father was William Douglas, died  27 April, 1805, aged 60 years, at 'Drannandow', Minnigaff, KKD.  His mother was Sarah Kennedy, died 15 June, 1827, aged 78 years, at Creebridge, Minnigaff, and was descended from the powerfull Kennedy clan of Ayrshire and Galloway.  Happy to share information.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
