Seeking information on James D Douglass, 1774 to 1805, Pennsylvania

James D Douglass, born 1774 in Franklin, PA and died 1805 in Butler, PA, married to Mary Polly Campbell, is my direct ancestor, and many people have a John (1724-1795) listed as his father and Archibald (1695-1756) as his grandfather in their online trees, but without supporting documentation.

I can document my family back to James, and I can document Archibald on back for a dozen generations, but it's confirming the link between them that I'm struggling with.

Anyone else looking at this part of the Pennsylvania Douglass line? I've confirmed that Archibald did have a son named John, who served as an assemblyman and judge in PA, but I can't find any info on John's children, beyond users on ancestry.com listing James as such.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
