My grandmother was Isabella Pow. My Great grandfather and great grandmother was Alexander Pow and Elizabeth Eleanor Brown. Alexander Pow’s Mother and father were John Pow and Isabella Douglas. So my great great grandmother was Isabella Douglas Born Feb 1, 1847 in Whitburn. Her mother and father were Catharine Gardner and Alexander Douglas. Catharine and Alexander were married on June 11, 1868. I am looking for more information on Alexander Douglas and Catharine Gardner and am hoping someone may have more information.

Ann GARDNER born 13 October 1863 in Whitburn, daughter of Catharine DOUGLAS
William GARDNER born 21 September 1874 in Whitburn, son of Elizabeth GARDNER

Alexander Douglas and James Douglas were both heads of families in Whitburn in 1834

I have not made any connections - yet.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
