I think that Henderson may have been a son of Samuel Douglas and Jane Toal (Towel) (Tole), but have seen no evidence. That would make him (probably) a brother to David Douglas born 12 May 1798 who married Catherine Baird (born 2 Feb 1814) on 27 Dec 1833.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
