A collection of historical and genalogical records

No inscription on the reverse but there is a close likeness to the positively identified photo of JCD in profile also on this site. In addition there is an identical bar broach in both photos made up of a row of 6 or 7 small ovals set vertically. The photographer A Esme Collings was operating from the address of 69 Western Road Brighton from around 1888 to around 1893. Julia's daughter Georgina Honora Douglas married Charles Leonard Cotton 15 Nov 1892. Julia, by then Mrs Harland, attended the wedding so perhaps this photo was taken as part of that trip to the UK.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
