W. S. Douglas of Dundarrach and the Sandilands of Eastbarns writs

Looking through some papers in the Mitchell Library archives, in Glasgow, I came across some incomplete papers with extracts from the Douglas family tree.
This stamp was on some of them, but there was no mention of Norman in the pages present.

Could there be a connection with the Eastbarns school teacher, John Douglas?

Arms update:
Norman matriculated his Arms 20/May/1969, the Court of the Lord Lyon, Edinburgh; Motto — Toujours en avant — Always in front;

This rather poor extract from the photograph of Norman Douglas is difficult to see.  I am unable to make out the motto, but it does not appear to tie in with any other branch of the Douglas family. Likewise, the three crosses do not tie in with any other Douglas family to the best of my knowledge.  Can anyone help?

On the reverse side Norman has written “ on the right;, Norman Douglas of Dundarach with one Golden Bagle   (as he has written) feather in his balmoral cap, on the left; John Terlow from the Netherlands.

Carrying a feather in your cap is a mark of a chieftain. As head of the Douglases of Dundarrach, I suppose that he was entitled to do so, but I am still keen to learn more about this branch.

Does anyone have knowledge of this family?

Norman (Norrie) Douglas of Dundarrach, Dundarrach, Tarbet, Arrochar, Dunbartonshire G83 7DD, who was elected as Ordinary Fellow Society of Antiquaries in 1986, died during the year 1999–2000. He wrote local (Arrocher) history books and articles.

I think there was a son, Gordon and cousins Kenneth and Ian. Kenneth had a stepson, Ron Beaty.

More information would be useful.
