Descendants of William Douglas of Jedburgh

I am not entirely happy with this as the dates do not stack up for me, but it may help.

Thanks for the information William, I have something similar but you have filled in gaps and dates for me.

John Douglas [172743] b. 1784 d. 1857 and Jennet Douglas [172744] are my 3 x Gr Grandparents and I have much information and  documentation about their Canadian descendants. The interesting thing is that they were married in Jedburgh in 1815 but I have documentation they were married again in Perth, Ontario in 1822 after the birth of the first 2 children in Jedburgh and at sea. Would they get married again if they did not bring documentation with them?

I also wonder about John being born to Margaret Scott [172742] in her 53rd year. There seems to be a large gap between pairs of children. Is there a 2nd family or another generation missing?

I had also wondered about James Stuart Douglas [172737] birth date and his mother Isobel Lyall [172736] birthing age

I wish I could find more about Jennet Douglas [172744] ancestry.

Thanks again for you help

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
