A collection of historical and genalogical records

I was describing the will of John Senior. Witnesses to will were William Bishop, Edward Peake, and William Willett. At probate Martha Senior refused and Gertrude Harmanson qualified. I happen to descend from Isabel Senior. Now, poor Martha leaves her two children with her brother, Captain William Willett and takes off for Yorktown to be with her mother.

At the moment I cannot remember the name of Elizabeth Willett's husband. I do remember seeing that she is mentione twice in the Minutes of Yorktown and that she left a will. In some manner she stated she was of Northampton County,

I am now thinking about Lt Col Edward Douglas. The year 1636 seemed to be a pivotal year. This was the year he married Isabel Gaynor, daughter of Isabel Dale Douglas. We know that Edward was a widower and probably witness the marriage of his daughter by a previous marriage. Isabel was herself probably a widow. When she married Rev. Thomas Teackle she was no longer of child bearing age. No doubt she was ten to fifteen years older than the minister. Lt Col Edward Douglas and his bride also attended a wedding in Scotland. At the wedding was a Douglas with the Given name of Thomas.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
