Captain John Savage, son of Ensigne Thomas Savage

Captain John Savage deposed 22 Nov 1677 that he was age 53 See Order Book 10, 1674-1678 page 235. That on 21 Nov 1637 he renewed his mother's patent of 24 Aug 1635 for land given his father by the King of the Eastern Shore. Captain John Savage represented County in the House of Burgess 1665-1676.

Captain John Savage mar 1) Ann Elkington  and 2) Mary Robins, daughter of Obedience Robins.

There were children by both marriages. As I descend from the second marriage I shall only present information relating to the second marriage.

We find a prenuptial contract in Northampton Co Deeds, Etc., 1668-1680, page 24, - 950 acres deeded to Mary Robins in the prenuptial contract descended to Nathaniel Littleton Savage and, also, Nov 1766 petitioned the General Assembly to divide the entail.

Captain John Savage and Mary Robins had five children. The second child (Thomas Savage being 1) Mary Savage , aged 16 in May 1688-Northampton Co Order Book 12, 1683-1689, page 358, mar 1) Sampson Webster who, in 28 July 1690, leased part of her land to Hillary Stringer, Northampton Co Deeds, Wills, & 11, 1680-1692, pp 263-264. The Stringer name leads us to familiar territory. By this marriage there was a daughter, Mary Webster who mar John Taylor. The Inventory of the estate of Sampson Webster was returned 28 May 1697, by his widow, Mary  and her second husband, John Senior, from whom I descend.-Northampton Co Deeds and Wills 12, 1692-1707 page 151.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
