A collection of historical and genalogical records

Of London and bound for England on the ship Providence of London, ready to sail. In regard of the further love and affection I bear to Miss Elizabeth Douglas daughter-in-law to Thomas Teackle, and in regard of Mary Douglas and to others now at sea, all my estate in Virginia now in the hands of Thomas Teackle except 1000 lbs of tobacco to Thomas Teackle. Witt: John Custis, John Robins- John Willett now qualified as Administrator of this estate See pages 83, 86, 102, I, incorrectly, called this a will. John Custis had recently arrived from Holland, bringing with him John Willett.

I have given thought to Norfolk, England, where Lt Colonel Edward Douglas had lived. It became obvious that as I gathered information on the marriage of Edward and his first wife that sources were not being shared. I was able to determine that Edward lived in the Mancroft-Norwich area of Norfolk and that Edward attended one of three churches that date back to the 15th century. These churches have baptismal records dating back- Saint Peter and Saint Stephen. The third, I think, is no longer with us. It appears that these two that their baptismal records have been copied by the Mormon Church and are available in Utah. I do not have access to them nor am I certain they will provide us with the information we require.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
