I have a friend who is also a Douglas. We have been trying to find a connection between us. Her dad was George Wallace "Bill"  b. 8 Sep.1928; d. 28 February 1988.

Welcome Cindy, I see that you live in Little Rock. I live a  little over a 100 miles from you in Hoxie.

Welcome to our community group, Cindy.

What dates and places have you got to help others link to your George W Douglass? Other may have him in their tree.

I think that the double ss came in when people gave their names for others to write down, and the scribe just wrote what he thought best.  These does not seem to be an earliest ancestor who became the progenitor. I know it is not a very exciting answer!

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
