Yes we are aware the Black  was a mistake (it was red) However it would have been black prior to the Red
the book was written in 1935 , 4 years before my great great uncle died

As Kelly says, the Glenbervie branch are Red Douglases descended from the earl of Angus.

Details of the family are in the book Letters My Grandfather Wrote Me, By Bryan Crawford

Hi Jackie, I've just read the above passage & need to let you know that the Douglas' of Glenbervie were red Douglas' I have done much study into this. My husband is a descendant of Lady Janet Douglas of Glenbervie, she was a rare female heiress to the title of Glenbervie. Her son changed his name to her maiden name to continue the title in the family, but his line died out. Would love to help you to connect in. Regards Kelly Hinds

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
