What could be Alonzo Douglas at his homestead

This could or could not be a picture of Alonzo Douglas at his homestead. When I went to the current owners of the land that he homesteaded, they had this picture hanging in their house. I did some photo comparisons and there is a good chance this is him, and the ages and genders of the children in the photo seem to be appropriate. His children (if they are the ones in the photo) would be Bessie May and John. All of the brick you see is most likely built onto the rock, if it is the same home.

No worries, it's actually been years since I've used this forum, so I'm a little rusty, as well. Would you prefer to email? Congrats on beating back the cancer! That's got to be a great feeling. i can also give you tips about the DAR as well- and you can use my information to join.

I have been going to join the DAR - but I had a "time out" for a hard battle with cancer. So I am working hard to try to catch up with everything.  This is the first that I have messaged on the Douglas Archives, so I am a bit confused. I think I have asked the same question on different threads. Please forgive me for that!

William, I wish I knew where precisely that picture came from. All I know is that the current owners of the land with the Douglas dugout had it in their home. The ages and genders seem to be correct but I am afraid I will never know for sure.

Sherry, Alonzo, and Emma Evans are my direct ancestors. Your Bessie May had a sister, Cynthia, who is my great-great grandmother. You may be interested to know that you can join the Daughters of the American Revolution through this Douglas family line. I did.

My mother is Doloris Hull, her mother was Lula Knapp, her mother was Bessie Mae Douglas, and finally - Alonzo Douglas and Emma Jane Evans are my 2nd great grandparents.  Is Alonzo in your lineage?

Is there a connection?

Bessie Mae is my great grandmother. I don't have any photos of all of her father, Alonzo. This photo really touches my heart!!!

They don't make 'em like that anymore!

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
