<p>James the Gross died at Abercorn, almost certainly of natural causes most probably connected with his obesity. There is an amusing tale told by, I think, Nigel Tranter of his corpse being lowered into the vaults of St Bride's Church when the lead lined casket broke free from the pall bearers and crashed down into the vault.</p>
<p><span>William Douglas, 2nd Earl of Angus appears to have died in his bed. I have seen nothing that indicates what caused his death.</span></p>
