<p>John and Hannah had 12 children, lm a family historian of some 35 yr, l only do data. </p>
<p>l saw original post from William and lm still wrking on going bckwrds as well as up dating</p>

<p>With 12 children it is classed as a small family, as l have done my family tree lve also wrked</p>
<p>on the other Douglas/Douglass of Tasmania, with more success and getting them bck 2 Billy and Ann Douglas of England.</p>

<p>My 4x great grandfather Major James Douglas was with the East India Company in Bombay</p>
<p>1782-1809.His four children were born there including my 3xgreat grandmother Rachel.</p>
<p>Rachel Douglas born 10th april 1797.</p>
<p>Catharine Douglas born 22nd feb 1799.</p>
<p>Mary Douglas born 29th october 1801.</p>
<p>James Douglas born 1804.</p>

<p>Rachel Douglas married James White at St Cuthberts Edinburgh in 1821.</p>
<p>James white was a surgeon living at 5 Windmill Street…</p>

<p>His son William White (B) 1829 in Edinburgh was the colonial architect</p>

<p>James Douglas jnr was also a surgeon and came to Sydney in 1829.</p>
<p>He died at 80 Glebe Road Sydney on the 27th april 1897 unmarried.</p>
<p>He is buried at Balmain cemetery.</p>

<p>Rachel Douglas died 23rd may 1865 at 3 Hope Terrace Glebe Road</p>
<p>Sydney buried at Gore Hill cemetery Nth Sydney.</p>
<p>Originally buried at Devonshire Street Methodist cemetery but later</p>
<p>moved to Gore Hill.</p>

<p>Major James Douglas died in 1819 at "Edenside" Kelso Roxburgh.</p>
<p>I don't know where he was born or parents.</p>
<p>His spouse was Atcha Babee who I thought might be Indian, but I</p>
