The Maternal Side of the family

I am now able to provide the maternal side of this family.

Isabella, the wife of Lt Col Edward Douglas was a daughter of Sir Thomas Pettus and Cicele King. Isabella married Edward Douglas in Jamestown, Virginia, about 1630. This was her only marriage. I suggest that Edward Douglas married twice. First he was married to a Bowman and there were no children. He followed with his marriage to Isabella Pettus. Sir Thomas Pettus was a member of the 3rd Charter of the Virginia Company. He was born Sept 1552. Sir Thomas was son of Sir John Pettus, born1550 and died 1614. Sir John was the founder of the East India Company. At this moment I can only suggest that Lt Col Edward Douglas was a son of Edward Douglas, Senior, who married Elizabeth Pendleton and was very active in the East India Company. It ewas Elizabeth that was on the boat with John Martyn, the Merchant, heading for her old home. Edward Douglas Senior may have been a son of William Douglas. He is somewhere connected with the Pendletons.

Lt Colonel Edward Douglas had a son named Edward Douglas and incorrectly stated he died in Northampton Co Virginia. He did not die there. He found himself in a difficult situation and took off for the mainland. possibly finding himself in what is today Tennessee.
