Researching members of the Douglas family in Ireland is notoriously difficult. So many records have been destroyed, and the families often moved on to America, or elsewhere.
This group is for those tracing their ancestors in Ireland.
I found Jean DOUGLAS b 1812 on a fragment of the 1821 census at Edenburt Co. Cavan. She was shown as the daughter of 30 yr old widow, Ann Douglas, along with her brothers Alexander (aged 6) Robert (aged 4) and John (aged 2).
Jane/Jean went to Whitehaven in Cumbria and John went to Liverpool, Lancashire. In 1836, Jane married Thomas BENNET at St Bees, Cumberland.
Unfortunately, as Ann was a widow, her husband remains unidentified but he must have been alive in 1818 assuming that John was really his son (and there is no reason to suspect otherwise).
