During my recent bout of 'Drysdale' wildcard searches, I've come up with many variations of a place called Droylsden, near Manchester, and the Drysdale village mentioned above, appears to be one such variation. In the book "Historical and descriptive notices of Droylsden, past and present" they mention that nearly 30 variations have been registered!
