The monastery was left with not a stone left upon a stone, and the loss of life was enormous, but a major group in the taking of it, was the Cameronians. That same regiment raised in Douglas in 1689, and they were ours. My imagination saw the ghosts of those Cameronians still there to this day, taking and re-taking the hill to ensure the freedom we have had for the last 80 years. This painting is my meagre salute to those men.
