I am not sure, My grandmother used to comment about the black douglasses. I know that they had to change their name to Drysdale as a result of the king of the time. I have name but not what actual lines.

    There is a certain amount of evidence that there was a name change from Douglas to Drysdale in 1503 - you can read some of the story here>>>

    At least one Drysdale has had DNA tested, and whilst I am no expert, there appears to be a close relationship between the Douglases and the Drysdales.

    It would be good to hear how far back your line can be traced.
