Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
I likely descend from a line of the Douglases of Cavers (and baronets of Friarshaw/Springwood Park), who emigrated to Washington, DC in the late 1860s (after two generations in Liverpool after leaving Scotland).
Certain family members I am looking for more details on include an Archibald Harvey Douglas (born circa 1806) in Liverpool. Any help would be fantastic.
I have the following notes, and you probably know this:
Archibald Harvey Douglas Born: 28 March 1806 - Dumfries, Scotland, United Kingdom Died: 25 Oct 1881 - Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Lancashire, England Mother: Margaret Warwick Father; James Douglas AHD Born in Dumfries, Scotland, United Kingdom on 28 March 1806 to James Douglas and Margaret Warwick. Archibald Harvey Douglas married Mary King and had 6 children. He diedy on 25 Oct 1881 in Toxteth Park, Liverpool, Lancashire, England.
James Douglas 1778 - 1859 born Closeburn, Dumfriesshire Margaret Warwick 1780 - 1859 born Canonbie, Dumfriesshire --------
Marriage: 21 Jun 1835 St Mary (now St Helen), St Helens, Lancashire Archibald Harvey Douglass - Parish of Prescot Mary King - Parish of Prescot Witnesses: Richard King; Sarah Shaw; Richard Green Married by Banns by Walter Bawdwen Curate Register: Marriages 1813 - 1837 from the Bishop's Transcripts, Entry 392 Source: LDS Film 1469036
I have had a quick look for Archibald in my usual places (Freecen, Familysearch, ScotlandsPeople etc) and would tend to agree with William's info - in particular, the 1841 census indicates his birthplace as Scotland (not Liverpool).
I also tidied up Archibald's tree on family search and it now looks like this:
William Douglas

Hi Paul,

I also tidied up Archibald's tree on family search and it now looks like this:
A couple of pdfs of census info
