My connection to the Douglas family comes from William Bliss marrying Elizabeth Marshall, daughter of Elizabeth Douglas b 1755.
Elizabeth Douglas was the daughter of George Douglas b 1724. I have not yet found a Susanna but I have not done a great deal of research into the Douglas line as I have been concentrating on the Bliss name.
I took a DNA test through Ancestry. This has been useful in finding matches, however the Y chromosome haplogroup would be the Bliss line as my Douglas link is through a female ancestor.
If we are both descended from the same George Douglas 1724, then we are 6th cousins once removed.
Further to my previous reply, I have been looking at my DNA matches for Douglas relatives and I saw that one of them listed a Susanna as the daughter of George Douglas b 1701, making her the sister, not daughter of George 1724. However I have not seen primary source evidence so I am wary of taking it as fact but it may be worth looking into it.
