Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
My great great grandfather was Henry Douglas. His son, William Douglas, was my great grandfather. My grandfather was Charles B Douglas and my father Sydney Douglas. The family was based mostly in St. Catherine near the border with Clarendon, which is significant because part of St. Catherine was merged with Clarendon. I am sure that there are close relatives in Clarendon but I have yet to make a definite link. The St. Catherine clan was based in Bellefield, Blue Hole, Bellas Gate, Brown's Hall, Point Hill, Reynolds, Watermount and adjacent districts of St. Catherine. William Douglas was married to Mary Ann Oliphant Henry on June 17, 1908 at age 55, therefore was born around 1853. William and Mary had a number of children. I have identified the following: Charles (my grandfather) whose estimated year of birth was 1872; Ethel Maude; May; Rebecca; Agatha (who has 2 surviving children - Ivy and Mary Rhone with whom I am in touch; Victor; Rosa, Ezel; Adlai; Reginald; Samuel; Zephole (some I believe died as infants. Henry Douglas was listed as father of William on William's marriage certificate. Besides William, Henry was father to Catherine who married Michael Shaw; Charles, Edward, and possibly Henry and Mary.
Henry died a bachelor in 1903 at age 83; therefore his estimated year of birth was 1820. His death certificate indicates that my great aunt Catherine Shaw (formerly Douglas) was present at his death. I am eager to trace Henry's parents (and earlier ancestors) and siblings.
