I have been carrying on my grandfather's research into our family history. Unfortunately, he was only able to get as far back as William Douglas, who was born in 1856 and immigrated to Canada with his wife Margaret Johnston. I hope to one day find the names of his parents, so that I can continue the research.

    I have located  William Sholto Douglas, b 1856 Blairgowrie, Perthshire, Scotland. His father was Sholto Douglas b 1820 Auchtermuchty, Fife, Scotland and his mother was Isobella Anderson. However, the famil appear to have emigrated to New Zealand, not Canada. So not much help. Also, I guess your William was born in Ireland?
