Wow..There's the Drysdale Miller connection!

My primary focus must resume to Donald McFarlane (engineer), of Glasgow, and his wife Fanny Withers, who appear as the parents on my grandfather's James Lionel McFarlane's wedding certificate here in Australia to Elizabeth Douglas..

As you can see this is yet another roadblock..It's a matter of tracing Donald born about 20+ years prior to my grandfather James (1867)..No luck so far,,even looking for variations of Fanny (Frances..etc), has come up with zilch.

The Douglas side does at least get me to Ireland with the Coffeys..but I have two major brick walls..So I must concentrate on them, or work on what I can on my maternal English side (which is what I do).

Thanks again for all the interesting records, Russell.

Good luck with your own.

Kind regards,

Alison

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
