I am looking for further information on my Douglass (as spelled by the father, James) or Douglas (as spelled by the children). I found James and Jane (Mill) living around Makerston, Roxburgshire,…Continue
I am related through Annie and Adelaide Douglas to John Douglas of Caledonia, Queen's County, Nova Scotia. I am specifically interested in confirming his siblings and where they ended up and finding out further information on his parents' ancestors.
And I have added bit here:

Welcome to our community, Cynthia.
The more you can tell us about your ancestors, the more likely someone wil find something in common and share with you. See the 'Making connections' comment in the side panel.
Yours aye,
William
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
