I now have James Douglas b1600's, son John Douglas b  23.1.1708 Aberdeen, m Agnes Donald Born 9.4.1710 in Bourtie Aberdeen, daughter Margaret Douglass married George Tower, dau Margaret Douglas Tower married John Stewart shipmaster Aberdeen; John Stewart probably a son of Bonnie Prince Charlie/ Charles Edward Stuart.
we are descended from the Red Douglas , Earls of Angus , Glenbervie Douglas , any info would be grateful

Cavers Castle on the market - again

Cavers Castle is steeped in history and was most recently the seat of the Douglas family for over 300 years. In its day, the castle was a grand 64 room family residence sitting in grounds in excess of 100,000 acres.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
