I now have James Douglas b1600's, son John Douglas b 23.1.1708 Aberdeen, m Agnes Donald Born 9.4.1710 in Bourtie Aberdeen, daughter Margaret Douglass married George Tower, dau Margaret Douglas Tower married John Stewart shipmaster Aberdeen; John Stewart probably a son of Bonnie Prince Charlie/ Charles Edward Stuart.
we are descended from the Red Douglas , Earls of Angus , Glenbervie Douglas , any info would be grateful

we are apparently descended from Bonnie Prince Charlie, either John Stewart is his son (no record of parents b abt 1749 (maybe to do with the Lady Primrose taking a child from B PR Charlie) & daughter of John Stewart and Margaret Douglas (Tower) was Margaret Douglas Stewart 1794, probably the Granddaughter of Bonnie Prince Charlie (according to a letter I have)

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
