<p>Sandilands is and always has been a recognized sept of Douglas. Crichton I could agree with. The others were "rivals" from the vacuum created after the fall of the Black Douglases in 1455. Until that time, I believe most of the names on the list were subordinate to Douglas or contemporary powers along the Border.</p>

<p>IF one were "technical" about this, the Red Douglas branch of Angus should be on the list. </p>
