Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
William Douglas, b 1609/10 m Anne Motley/Matlat
My most recent Douglass ancestor is Abigail Douglass b 1747 Chester/Black River, Morris Co NJ who m James Lewis of Mendham, Morris Co NJ b 1747. They went to Knox Co OH with most of their family by 1805 and both died there.
Since a cousin did a DNA test, we now know our line descends from William and Anne, above. Before those results came back we had reached a brick wall in research on Abigail, her bro Aaron, b 1753 and si Sarah, b 1755. Aaron m Phoebe Lewis, si of Abigail's husband James. And Sarah m William Loveridge.
I just started looking. With the passing of my father, Manning Lewis, I had found some obituaries of Joseph & Robert. Mark is my brother. He had told me about the DNA test. He hasn't had a chance to share info with me. I just emailed Cousin, Kevin Berg, he's the one that asked my brother to do the test. He will be sending me what info he has. I would love to see what you have and compare info. Thanks, Donna L. Douglass Wasser

No, nothing new on Samuel. I did find additional reference to Jonathan and William:
Revolutionary War Soldiers Lansingburgh company of Col. Stephen I. Schuyler's Militia, Feb. 17, 1777: Douglass, Jonathan, Sergeant Douglass, William, Private.
Yes, we are still planning a trip north (Jul-Aug), but I am undecided as to where to spend our limited time. It will definitely be in the Pittstown area... just not sure where.
Your information looks promising and perhaps our research will meet up somewhere. Right now, I'm stuck with William Douglas who was born about 1802 in Virginia and later moved to Natchez, Mississippi area. He was in the 1880 census as 78 years old. I am assuming that I need to find out who were his owners to be able to track his ancestors.
