Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
Only currently back to my Great great Grandfather, Walter Douglas I cant find any birth/death info but according to my Great grandfathers discharge papers he died in Otago NZ. Also researching my Great grandfather John Helenor Douglas 1868-1941 and his military history with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders 1891-1912.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?

I have had a quick root around for your ancestors, but have, so far, not located them. I live not far from Stirling Castle, home of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, but family searches there are quite expensive. Did he serve in the Boer War?
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
