Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
Descendants of Norman Douglas, the author, 1968-1952. I am co-editor of the letters of Douglas. Robin Sholto Douglas was his younger son. I should much like to get in contact with Georgina West, who writes to William Douglas on this genealogical website with reference to South African Douglases, about identification of certain persons mentioned in the correspondence between Robin and his father in the 1940s.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
This is icidental to my scholarly concerns with a member of your larger family; however, there may have been some connection with my maternal grandmother, Susan Gwendolyn Brodie, born in Edinburgh, of Clan Brodie (Morayshire, Scotland) also in 1868 I believe, married Arthur E. Stevens in Detroit.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
