I am interested in this branch of my family. My maiden name was Willan and my grandfather was Robert Hugh Willan, one of 4 children of Frank Willan of Hampshire and Louisa Willan Nee Douglas.Continue
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

We have two new members looking for more information about closely related families joining today. Richard Martin Willan is also researching the Douglas/Willan connection.
I also have a couple of email correspondents working on this, so between us, I am hopeful that we can crack some of the unknowns: Who was/were Thomas Willan's wife and parents? Who were General Robert Douglas's parents?
Yours aye,
William
