Which Douglas line are you researching?
The Line of Robert the Bruce and Sir William Douglass, who fought with William Wallace. You know the movie Braveheart.
"The Black Douglass's.....My GrandFather "Joshua Parkhurst Douglass"

Imigrated from Scotland at the end of the !800's or early 1900's to Chicago. He was born in 1871 0r 1872. Died in 1965 He settled in the to Oganagan Valley, Washington near Orville, Wa. My Fathers name was Robert B. Douglass. He was born in 1922 and died 1983 in Portland, Oregon.

However, I note that two ss are more common in Ireland than Scotland.
