Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
Irish family. Since attending the Clan Gathering in Scotland in 2014 I've located a direct male Douglas descendant, who is a 5th cousin of mine. We have had his DNA tested with Family Tree DNA and it appears we descend from a line known as Dalgleish.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
William Douglas, Ireland 1750

“R1b Group Type 9: Dalgliesh connection - A number of our members have strong matches with members of the Daglish family. It is known that in some cases names have changed from Dagliesh (or variant) to Douglas and possibly also vice-versa at some stage. Some of these connections are being actively researched as a result of these matches.”

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
