Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
I am researching one of the Douglas septs, the Glendinning (with variant spellings) family. ScotClans considers the Glendinning families as a clan that wore the Douglas tartan. I am also thinking that perhaps there was a marriage between a Douglas daughter and a Glendenning son.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
Andrew J Glendening (1810-1922) His father Andrew J Glendening (1810-1896) Probably grandfather made his way to Andes, Delaware Co New York State, USA. By the 1870's my branch of the Glendening family moved to Norwalk, Fairfield County, Connecticut.
Tags/keywords - used to help people find you

dna haplotype
I have not done this yet but I need to go back at least 4 generations to find another Glendening son other than Andrew J Glendening, Jr.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
