Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
I believe I can trace it back through to Sir William Douglas, 1174-1214. I am a Douglas through my Great-Grandmother - Mary Ethel Douglas, 1886-1963. Our line goes through Lowry Dixon Douglas; John Granville Douglas;Andrew Jackson Douglas(s).
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
William Douglas.

Welcome to our community network, Richard.

How do you fit into the Douglas family?  If you edit your profile (go to Settings, on the right) and include details of the person that you are trying to locate, your earliest known Douglas ancestor, etc, then others may be able to contribute to your research.

You may find the notes on our 'Help Desk' useful.

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
