Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
My Grandfather's name was Edwin Douglas and he was born In Dumfries Scotland plus minus 1882. He died in Johannesburg South Africa on 29 May 1932 at the age of 49 years. At that stage he worked on the goldmines in Johannesburg. Before that he was a carpenter. He and his sister emigrated from Scotland to South Africa about 1908. His sister's name was VIOLET MARY DOUGLAS and she probably married a Mr. WILSON. There is a slight possibility that Edwin and Violet's father's name could have been William Robert Douglas.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
Edwin DOUGLAS and his sister Violet Mary Douglas

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
