Yes, would be interested in information on Stobs. Genealogy, shows Clementis Hobs; ie Clement Crozier's sister's son Robert Elliott, of Stobs, on land for the Gledstanes, previous to acquirement by Gavin Elliott of Horseleyhill-Gorrenberry, and passed to the Horseleyhill-Redheugh-Stobs line.

Noted; surname Lorenz, has a similar distribution pattern as the surname Ewald, a close derivative to the Elwald-Ellot of the borders, but proto-germanic in nature.

I did respond, but it got stuck in the system.

I have now sent a copy via this website's message system.

Welcome to our group, Helen.

I have never managed to sort out the Palmer-Douglas of Cavers descendants, and hope that you might be able to help?

Yours aye,

William Douglas

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
