The Douglas Archives

A collection of historical and genalogical records

Can anyone please help with Douglases from Coleraine, or from Bushmills, County Antrim areas Northern ireland?

Gt Gt Gt Grandfather James Douglas: his son was Joseph Douglas my Gt Gt Grandfather who m. Margaret Jane Simpson in 1849: their son was William Simpson Douglas my Gt Grandfather who married Mary Jane Fleming in 1893 - I can't seem to find out who James Douglas was married to, nor any info further back from that. I hope someone has some information to fill out the lives of these ancestors and also the journey traced back to Scotland and which Douglas family line we actually come from. Many thanks in anticipation from the Gold Coast, South East Queensland Australia.

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
