A collection of historical and genalogical records
We hope that you might consider supporting the Douglas Archives.
Our costs are fairly modest at present: hosting and software being the most obvious, which amount to a few hundred pounds each year. However, our plans to improve the user experience will cost rather more, and depend on finances being available.
We recognise that there is a need to make the site HTTPS secure. Although we do not collect personal details, some systems still want the assurance that the site is protected. We seek help with the costs.
We would like to introduce a better content management system, which would allow quicker and easier searching of pages. We would also like to integrate the database with the historical content in a more meaningful way.
Perhaps more importantly, we wish to improve the content, re-writing the material so that it is more user friendly.
Your contribution would help towards these goals. If you have benefitted from using the Douglas Archives, please click the donate button.

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
