The Douglas Archives

A collection of historical and genalogical records

To follow the idea and discussion.

Why not July 11th Roberts Birthday. Most Aussies and NZ wear Kilts on New Years Eve.

Most Scots have big Hearts and a great Black sense of Humor.

To not cheapen the idea like Secretaries Day, Teachers Day, Red nose Day etc why not in the southern winter when it's not so hot in the North of OZ. Have a connection to Kids Hospitals.

July 11th. Wear the Kilt $100.  Wear the Kilt + G strong $150.  Wear the Kilt Nothing $200.

July 11th could be Brass Monkey DAY!!! LOL.

Why not have a Mater Childrens Hospital Qld. Westmeade Childrens Hospital N.S.W. Princess Margaret Hospital W.A. etc Have a Kilt Day Incorporated group of DOUGLAS {naturally] to get a Bank account direct to Hospital funding and to promote it in the Local Media. It would be easy to sell to the Media and the Kids need every bit of help in theses Wards as Possible. Keep it as a fun day. The loss of little ones is tragic and difficult for all.

Just to give suggestions for debate.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
