I have gotten two, and if you google it you get a lot of info on scammers

I have received an email from a Michael Mccarthy from Lome, Togo claiming that he has vital information for me based on my profile.  I do not believe that this is genuine as there is very litle info on my profile. Also, I have read of many scams based in Togo. I have deleted the email without responding

I received it also from Michael McCarthy. Send it to trash.

I got one too from a Michael Mccarthy - thanks for confirming my suspicions -  I will delete the message!

I also got the Michael McCarthy email today. Don't click on any Link in it. Just delete it.

I got almost exactly the same thing after signing up to my Gmail account from Michael McCarthy

I recieved another spam attempt from A Maris

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
