A collection of historical and genalogical records
Ann DOUGLAS is my 4th great grandmother. Her death certificate gives only her father's name, Robert DOUGLAS. According to census records, she was born in Parton Parish, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.
She married Samuel ERSKINE/ASKIN in approx 1803, possibly in Wigtownshire - I have found no records of their marriage, nor of Samuel's birth or death. Samuel died sometime after 1822, probably in Wigtownshire. Ann and Samuel had at least 9 offspring. I am descended through their son, Alexander ASKIN/ERSKINE, 1812-1862, who died in Girvan, Ayrshire, Scotland.
I would like to find any information about Ann's ancestors and possible siblings.
If this matches with anyone else's family tree, I would love to hear from you!
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
