Christ in mercy sarcophagus PAINTED, ca 1514 - ca 1514

Christ in mercy
PAINTED, ca 1514 - ca 1514
On a sarcophagus decorated with spirals of leaves, within a roundel with a blue background, the "Christ in Pietà" stands out, with his arms crossed, his head bowed and the cross in the background. On the sides, under a scroll with a long inscription, two coats of arms: on the left, that of the Scotti family, crossed by a white band on a blue background; on the right, that of the Lampugnani, black eagle on a yellow background and a black and white checkered band on a red background

HISTORICAL CRITICAL NEWS
Work by a mediocre local artist from the early 16th century. Visible until 1627, it was then washed away and rediscovered only between 1931-1932, when a large part of it was repainted (perhaps only the figure of the "Christ in Pietà" is original).

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
