A collection of historical and genalogical records

Angus "Bell the Cat Douglas" passing lands with assistance of William Elwald, (Goodman) of Gorrenberry, with Ker Walter of Cessford, and his brother Ralph (Radulpho) of Fernieherst, castle pictured. Crest time of Mary Queen of Scots. Both are similar. Refer to Ker as elk (moose) of marsh, and Elwald as elk (moose) of forest. Moose is a variant of and indigenous American word, and elch-elk is Germanic, adopted by the Oxford English language. Elwald (Ellot-Elliot) referred to as "elk of forest" the American elk as big like an American 'moose" is only of the forest. To say it is of the forest is indicative that it is of somewhere else. Ker are of the marsh.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
