A collection of historical and genalogical records

I never had so many comments on a painting as much as I did with this one on facebook. It's just my own private expression of what Wallace might have looked like at the time. He was titled SIR William Wallace. Not some raggy kilted torag, with his face painted blue, but as Abe Lincoln once said, " You can't please all of the people all of the time." My old friend, the Scottish author Nigel Tranter was always approached by some who would say to him, " How do you know what so -and- so said at a particular point in time.." Nigel's answer was always the same..." How do you know they didn't.." That'll do me.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
