Faith & Charity statue with Scotti COA, Piacenza 1700-1799

Faith//Charity
STATUE, 1700 - ca 1799
"Faith" holds a chalice in her right hand and a book in her left: at her feet a naked cherub crouched and half hidden by her dress. "Charity", on the other hand, with her hair loose and a dress that leaves her shoulders bare, holds a chubby child and with her other hand caresses the head of another older child who leans towards her

HISTORICAL CRITICAL NEWS
The two statues were part of the decorative complex of an altar which was located in the third chapel on the right. When the chapels were demolished between 1944 and 1945, during the architectural "restoration", the altar was probably dismembered: it is not known what happened to the other parts of the altar (see file no. 124). These two statues, rather common, but quite valuable, were thus placed in this chapel, above two columns (see entry no. 73) with the Scotti coat of arms, perhaps those which supported the ark of the Piacenza family, located in the right nave

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
