A collection of historical and genalogical records
Taken in West Virginia. I'm not sure which birthday, but I'm guessing this may have been his 100th (circa 1896). In this photo John appears to have impaired vision and it was not long after that, so it has been reported, that his eyesight was partially restored.

I believe that was in the Hickman Courier , June 14 1917.
Lutie Mae Clark . . . there is a name I remember my Moma saying . . . there are [ or there were ] McClungs here abouts in Rockbridge co that had Dairy and slaughterhouses West Va state line is only 70 miles away , it is not outside the realm of possibility .
Other than my daughter's Drysdale relatives hailing from the West Virginia clan fathered by John's son, Charley F., John's daughter "Jessie" also known as "Hattie" Drysdale, while married to Lemon A. McClung, adopted Lutie Mae Clark. Lutie lived in the same household as old John until she married Dexter Newton Trout, so some of those descendants may have information or family records or photos that might be helpful.
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
