HISTORICAL CRITICAL NEWS
The tombstone in question is a typical example of the typology of war memorials, i.e. the simplicity of the composition and the few decorative elements. Very interesting from a historical-documentary point of view is the figure of Cesare Augusto Tonelli, mentioned in Enrico Benassi's text (see Bibliography) among the fallen soldiers of the R. University of Parma who fell in the war. Tonelli was born in 1896, began his medical studies in Pavia, then in 1915 he was called to arms and immediately served in the field hospitals and was appointed aspiring doctor in 1918; he died of illness in 1918 but was nevertheless awarded an honorary medical degree in 1919

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
